If you like to take an alcoholic beverage every now and then, keep your cash at home if you intend to do your drinking in a brick and mortar betting house. I am not joking. Empty your billfold, your wallet, and leave all money, debit cards and cheques at home. Take just the money you are planning to spend on alcohol, tipping and whatever loose coins you intend to lose and keep the rest behind.
Cynical? Not really. Realistic more like. You may well experience a win after a boozy evening out with your friends and be lucky enough to hit a marathon roll at a smokin’ craps table. Hang on to that story because it’s as brief as it gets if you continually drink and gamble. The two simply do not mix.
Keeping your cash at home is a little excessive, however defensive measures for drastic actions is proportionate and required. If you gamble to succeed, then do not consume alcohol and bet. If you are able to manage to throw away your money without a worry, then consume all the no charge alcohol your stomach can hold, but do not take credit cards and chequebooks to throw into the combination of chasing losses after your drunken brain throws away all the cash!
