If the pay off for a Don’t Pass Odds bet equals the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds wager is bridged. The section of your Odds bet that is equal to the Flat wager is set exactly next to the Flat wager. Then, the rest of the Odds bet is put on top "bridging" them. e.g., consider you place a $5 Do not Pass wager and the shooter rolls a point of 8. Understanding the true odds for the 8 are six:five (for example., six ways to make a 7, and 5 ways to roll an eight), you then place six dollars in Odds with the hope of acquiring 5 dollars. In this example, if you actually win the 6 dollars Odds wager, you earn 5 dollars, which exactly equals the amount you win with your $5 Flat bet. Therefore, since your Flat bet and Odds bet win the same amount (5 dollars each), you bridge your 6 dollars Odds wager by putting a five dollar chip immediately next to your 5 dollar Flat wager, and then placing the one dollar chip so it bridges the two five dollar chips.

If the payoff for a Do not Pass Odds bet doesn’t equal the amount of the Flat bet, then the Odds bet is heeled. This means you lay the bottom chip of your Odds wager chip stack directly beside to your Flat bet. Then, put all remaining Odds bet chips on that first chip but offset and angled on that first chip (your Odds bet chip stack is crooked as a result that it is angled on the bottom chip).

Befuddled? That’s okay, do not get nervous. The dealer is always ready to help if you forget. After a couple of instances, it all makes perfect sense. It will not take too long before you’re an expert. If you’re not sure what to do the initial time you attempt it, basically say to the croupier, "I would like to place some Odds but I do not comprehend if it needs to be bridged or heeled." The dealer asks, "How much do you wish to put?" Let us say you indicate, "Fifteen dollars to win ten." The croupier asks you to drop your chips on the craps table (croupiers aren’t permitted to collect anything, especially chips, directly from a player), and then he properly heels or bridges them based on the amt. of your Flat bet. You will quickly get the hang of it. Just do not be hesitant to ask the croupier queries. Their job is not only to deal, but also to be courteous and assist the gamblers.
